Well - note my response pointing out that the issue with symbolic links was by design. There was no followup from the OP pursuing the question of a hardlink. (Generally, if there's some followup explaining why they wanted a change, I'll either explain why not, or make the change, but lacking a dialogue, there's little to go on).
