Can you check the ownership of /run/user/1000/dconf/user file when m-n-d starts eating CPU? Is it owned by you or by root:root? Also check whether ~/.xsession-errors file contains any messages like this: dconf-CRITICAL **: unable to create file '/run/user/1000/dconf/user' -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
