On starting gvim, I get a gnome-style error popup that says
An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for
vim. Some of your configuration settings may not work properly.
Clicking on the provided Details button gives
Configuration server couldn't be contacted: CORBA error:
IDL:omg.org/CORBA/BAD_OPERATION:1.0

I'm guessing this might be a Gnome problem, where the Gnome libraries
are looking for a CORBA server that isn't there because I'm not running
Gnome. But it may also be that gvim is asking Gnome to do something it
shouldn't.
