Hi,
That's good. You'll need to make your debian sources (dsc +
debian.tar.gz) available for anyone to do a proper review. Uploading it
to mentors.debian.net is a good idea.
Firstly, you can change the priority of your package to optional if you
want. The majority of packages should be this priority.
A 'Suggests: www-browser' might be good if you need one to view the help
files.
I have 4 remaining lintian messages which are hopefully acceptable:
1. I: whycanticonnect: using-first-person-in-description line 1: I
My description contains my application name ("Why Can't I Connect?")
which contains an "I".
You can ignore that one.
2. I: whycanticonnect: arch-dep-package-has-big-usr-share 24926kB 95%
These are mainly the help files. Splitting them would be difficult
across multiple operating systems.
25MB is a lot of data though, which will be duplicated >10 times for
each architecture at the moment. What you can do is split most of the
stuff in /usr/share into another binary package (something like
whycanticonnect-data) which is arch independent. Then add a dependency
so the packages are always installed together.
3. W: whycanticonnect: binary-without-manpage usr/bin/WhyCantIConnect
"Why Can't I Connect?" is GUI with language sensitive, context
sensitive help linked to local html files.
That doesn't mean it shouldn't have one. It can just consist of a very
brief description of what the program is for.
4. I: whycanticonnect: desktop-entry-lacks-keywords-entry
usr/share/applications/WhyCantIConnect.desktop
I don't understand what is required here.
See this:
https://wiki.gnome.org/Initiatives/GnomeGoals/DesktopFileKeywords
After you've looked at those messages, upload the source to
mentors.debian.net and file a sponsorship-requests bug so you can find
someone who can upload the package for you (I can't, I'm not a DD).
James
Thanks for your help but splitting my application is a bit more than I'm
willing to do right now. Maybe some time in the future.
Thanks again
Chris
