Package: metacity Version: 1:2.12.1-1 Severity: normal When, using the workspace switcher preferences, I reduce the number of workspaces so that a workspace is removed that still contains windows, metacity segfaults. By tricks (apparently one cannot switch out of X when metacity has segfaulted and hangs inside gdb because all keyboard events go to metacity! don't try!) with chvt(1) I was able to get this segfault inside gdb:
