In the meantime there is a alpha version 3.1.99 available upstream,
which supports git. I'll wait for the 3.2 release instead of
releasing with a patch or fork, since upstream implements git support
a little different to these patches (multiple repositories instead of
one) and don't want users to have to migrate.
