Unfortunately, raising the severity does not help at all. You need to
file an unblock request with a pre-approval. The release team decides
unblocks based on the quality of the bug and its patch itself and not
on the severity of the bug report since the latter can be adjusted
by anyone.

You need to convince them that an update to the package is justified
with arguments based on the actual bug.

The unblock request (#775914) got approved by the RT and I have just uploaded mate-session-manager 1.8.1-7 (and also caja 1.8.2-2) to unstable.

In a few days, mate-session-manager with the gnome-keyring fix should arrive in jessie.
