Please take a look at the branch 'next' I pushed to jruby repo. There you can find some changes I did to the packaging. I hope that help with this bug and you can use it as a base. I'm not pushing to master yet to don't interfere in case any bug fix is needed for 1.5.6 in jessie. I didn't push or merge anything from upstream yet since I'm not sure when the packaging is going to be completed.
