I have uploaded 1.7.3-1~exp1 to experimental which is basically what I'd like to upload to unstable. It contains one more patch compared to the debdiff I sent to fix a build failure with Python 3.4 (https://github.com/django/django/commit/b1bf8d64fbadcab860eb98662c49b8db33db0c3c).
