It's funny you ask: etckeeper used to support ACLs, because it was using "metastore" to store the file metadata previously: http://david.hardeman.nu/software.php#metastore However since 0.13 (~march 2008), it moved to its own native metadata store, which dropped support for it. Not sure this will ever be implemented by Joey... Since this has been sitting around for years now, I'm tempted to just mark this as wontfix... A.
