I added the necessary #include <time.h> to init.c and the thing compiled without warnings and subsequently started up without segfaulting.
However, it crashed on the first connection attempt. "101 Making Your Software 64bit ready" - make sure it compiles without warnings. There are still a number warnings about int-to-pointer conversions during compilation, I'm quite sure that if these are all removed the chance that the thing will work will greatly improve. Seeing that such a package remains unusable for over a year has prompted me to run away from Debian64, so please don't bother me with follow-ups ;-)
