Package: libfile-rsyncp-perl Version: 0.70-1.1+b1 Severity: normal Tags: patch upstream
Hi, When using File::RsyncP via BackupPC, we occasionally find backups stall on particular machines. This often happens on the same file/directory each time, so once a backup stalls no amount of stopping and re-starting the backup helps. Often the only way to resolve this issue has been for us to locate the problematic file/directory and remove or re-create it with the same contents. It will then backup correctly. Often this suddenly starts happening on files/directories that haven't been changed for months or years, which is particularly perplexing. We have two BackupPC servers and when this happens this always happens reproducibly on both servers. After much digging around, I located a report on the CPAN RT system which describes the same problem: https://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=100810 We tested the attached patch on our BackupPC servers which had both got stuck backing up the same file on the same machine, and both backups succeeded. Please apply the patch in the RT ticket linked above. This affects both the versions in wheezy and in jessie/sid.
