Long story short: The current Wheezy binaries of Viking were compiled before gpsd 3.6 had the 32c2c9c_GPS_PATH_MAX-needs-to-be-longer-to-handle-Linux-persistent-device-names patch applied. The patch changes the size of struct gps_data_t and thus breaks ABI compatibilty.
