Linux is much more tolerant for hw changes.  And even for
windows it does not help in all cases (provided you don't
use corporate version of this OS where hw changes are not
relevant).

That's libvirt's translation of my previous Xen configuration. (In fact I think that all of my problems have come about because of libvirt being rather dumb about converting from Xen to KVM).
