Many thanks for the detailed report! I will forward upstream. pyasn1 is also the root of #766481. Since pep 466 Python 2 has Server Name Indication (also validation and other features), so using ndg-httpsclient and pyasn1 is less necessary. Is not installing them feasible for you?
