That was my first intuition, but I have come around to a different opinion, mainly for two reasons:
* It is desirable for the journal to keep the complete output in the log. Otherwise it might make debugging more difficult or even introduce security problems, if important messages can be removed from the journal. * The bug in clamav can be seen without systemd: Just redirect freshclam's output to a file and without this fix, you get the useless progress indication messages in your 'manual log'.
