Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

Please remove lire (all 3 binary packages: : lire-devel-doc, lire-doc and lire)
from unstable:

- it is buggy (I'd be surprised if it has success in parsing logfiles as
shipped with current daemons: logfile parsing code hasn't been touched since
  squeeze),

- upstream development is dead (the homepage at http://www.logreport.org/ is
taken over by some Japanese card loan company),

- an RFA-bug (https://bugs.debian.org/605968) has been reported 4 years ago
with no response; I myself will no longer maintain it,

- popcon is low(ish) ( https://qa.debian.org/popcon.php?package=lire )

I feel lire should not get shipped with jessie either. Do I have to file
another bug report to get it removed from testing?

Bye,

Joost

PS: Lire, the full-featured log analyzer and report generator, has been shipped
with Debian since woody (2001)

    woody 20020214-7
    sarge 2:2.0.1-4
    etch 2:2.0.2-3
    lenny 2:2.0.3-1.1
    squeeze (oldstable) 2:2.1-1.1
    wheezy (stable) 2:2.1.1-2
    jessie (testing) 2:2.1.1-2.1
    sid (unstable) 2:2.1.1-2.1

I've been part of the upstream team. It has been good; moving on now.
