First of all thanks for your that quick feedback, I certainly wasn't aware of that and feel sad that was such a tedious process for you. In any case thanks for the work on the Debian package itself you did so far! Given the above also, can you orphan the packages properly, see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/pkgs.html#orphaning such that other might be aware that the packages are up to adoption?
