I don't quite recognise a problem here -- it seems that more temporary free space is needed for processing than you expect... It could be that high compression ratio is the case or even file system limits that you may hit when approaching end of free space. Besides it may that `flac` utility consuming space and not "shntool"...
I'm in favour of closing this bug unless stronger evidence for overuse of
temporary space is provided.
