Still the case with kernel 3.17. I have however got an idea: on my box I have the brltty daemon installed and running (even if I don't have a braille device). If I remove the brltty daemon, I don't have the issue. Among the things that brltty does which might be related, there are: - it keeps /dev/vcsa open to access the content of the console, - it keeps /dev/tty0 open to be able to synthesize keypresses with ioctl(TIOCSTI) for instance, - it keeps /dev/console open to be able to emit ioctl(KDMKTONE) for instance.
