The man page says: rrs@learner:/usr/share/doc/lxc/examples$ sudo lxc-create --name lxc-create: option '--name' requires an argument Usage: lxc-create --name=NAME [-w] [-r] [-t template] [-P lxcpath] The man page says that the only mandatory option is '--name'.
