I do use emacs24[1] on my workstation and I have no problem with
systemtap-mode at all:

- Installing systemtap-common (after having purged it) works just fine.
- Opening a file ending in .stp puts the buffer into systemtap mode, no
  error is raised.

I believe that more information on how to reproduce this bug is needed.

    emacs24/24.4+1-4 package
