Hi,

+1 that this change should be advertised more prominently at upgrade.

I restrict access to my home router by MAC address, but it took me a while to
find out why it suddenly refused to give me an IP when I issued my usual ifup
command.

I personally prefer more fine-grained control over macchanger by calling it via
pre-up in /etc/network/interfaces for only specific networks (not: network
interfaces). So I decided to disable the new feature by setting

  ENABLE_ON_POST_DOWN=no

in /etc/default/macchanger. I'm not sure whether that's the best method for
configuring macchanger, though?

Anyway, after I had done that, a

  sudo macchanger -p wlan0 # reset to original hardware MAC address
  sudo ifup wlan0=mynetwork

got me back into business right away.

best,
Florian
