Eye of Gnome is able to open and display .svg images. I intended to duplicate the svg image to another folder using the 'Save As' option. When the dialog opens, an .svg filetype is suggested. However when saving to any .svg filetype, an error is displayed: File format is unknown or unsupported Image Viewer could not determine a supported writeable file format based on the filename. Please try a different file extension like .png or .jpg. Taking this message as a suggest I tried saving as a .png file, which does indeed create a valid png file. However since my original image was vector-based, I lost quite some information, especially considering this concerned a mathmatical graph, for which the svg file offered a zooming capability. I would have expected the file but keep its original structure while I was moving and renaming it.
