As of yesterday (?) the following version of libotr5 is installed:

$ aptitude show libotr5
Package: libotr5
State: installed
Automatically installed: yes
Version: 4.1.0-1

and indeed this seems to solve the bug. Pidgin starts and connects as
expected. I have not yet tried to use OTR but can test it if necessary.

I'm afraid I don't know the exact version of libotr5 that was previously
installed.

Thank you for the fix!

Florian
