That seems to have fixed things.  It suddenly looks totally
different when it starts up and looks more like an older version.

I'm not sure why it was in that state.  I can't remember editing
that file, but I might have at some point.  I guess for some
reason I never saw that prompt to get it managed by
pam-auth-update like it is on my other boxes.
