there is more than the only speedstep_* stuff in kernel's CPUFreq :) AFAIK things are not that straightforward wrt cpufreq drivers. I remember somebody trying to create an autodetect script but it's been some years ago... I'll see if I can contact those people and understand if the project has been finalized (or is finaliz-able). Anyway the postinst script already barfs if it can't find the necessary in-kernel support. Actually I'd also prefer to make the init script more verbose about the error condition instead of trying to fight against all the possible configurations out there. ciao -- mattia :wq!
