I have updated Jessie and still get the same messages: scantailor: error while loading shared libraries: libtiff.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
or, with a symlink from libtiff 5 as before: scantailor: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libtiff.so.4: version `LIBTIFF_3.9' not found (required by scantailor) I tried installing scantailor on another Jessie computer and it works fine and there is no libtiff.so.4 there, so a bit of a mystery what is going wrong. I'm happy to reduce the severity of the bug as it looks like it is something peculiar to my system.
