It seems that LP: #1170017 returned.

Then I created symlink
ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libpython2.7.so.1.0
/usr/lib/libpython2.7.so.1.0
after creating symlink I got my extension working again.

just to double check... and this issue was not present with 1.8.0-1 in Debian jessie??? Can you downgrade and report back? Because actually, this issue had been fixed upstream afaiu.
