I'm afraid that it won't help for Jessie but I would be happy to help whoever is maintaining CEGUI. It's used in Ember and I'm a little familiar with it from upstream Ember work.
I do not think that Release Managers are going to grant exceptions to this package, though. I would probably leave it as it is (seems the safer route), hope that 1.8 is not removed during the freeze, and upload the latest upstream to experimental supporting 1.9 at some point in the near future.
Ok, sounds good. I'll plan to work with Stephen on updating the remaining libraries and getting all of the newest packages into experimental.
