as the program luvcview (taken from an Ubuntu package) shows the camera image on my system, I think, bug 763433 concerning libv4l (being corrected meanwhile) is not relevant. It is guvcview that has a problem since kernel 3.16.0. And it is the default capture method "mmap" which does not work.
