additional information, I tested updating the package to 2.2.14,
it compiles cleanly after adjusting
debian/patches/dovecot_name.patch annd dropping
debian/patches/bye_logout_not_sent.patch (applied upstream).
It seems to work fine.

Thanks. I was waiting for the 2.2.14 release but you beat me to it.
I would like this to be the version in jessie and I think we can get
it in good condition before the freeze.
I won't be able to work on the package today but I can tomorrow.
Meanwhile, can you please upload your work to our git repository? It
would save some time.
I don't think I can push to collab-maint, I'm a DM and haven't applied
for it yet.
I have pushed my copy to
git.debian.org:~bschmidt-guest/public_git/dovecot.git, feel free to pull
that. I cannot clone or gitweb it yet, I guess this is due to the six
hours delay on Alioth. But directly on alioth it shold be fine.
