Package: console-tools
Version: 1:0.2.3dbs-60
Severity: normal

Hi,

When running "loadkeys -q -m defkeymap.map", loadkeys fails because it
doesn't have access to /dev/tty0 or /dev/console:

$ loadkeys -q -m defkeymap.map
Couldnt get a file descriptor referring to the console
KDGKBMODE: Bad file descriptor
loadkeys: error reading keyboard mode

However, I don't see why access to /dev/tty0 or /dev/console is needed
to generate the C source file, as expected by the -m option. I've
recompiled the loadkeys without any Debian patch, and it works, so it's
likely that this problem comes from one of the Debian patches.

This problem is quite annoying, because loadkeys -m cannot be run as
user anymore.

Thanks,

Thomas
