Thanks for your effort, otherwise this patch would have rotten in here for months, I guess. The quilt-conversion is also a great step forward for that package!

I've tested the vorbis functionality of some programs that use libvorbis. So far everything looks fine to me. But as I said, I don't have a great testing environment for libvorbis set-up, so those were just very basic file reading and writing tests using different GUI multimedia programs based on libvorbis.
Perhaps you can want to join the Debian Xiph.org Maintainers group. I suspect they could use some fresh blood. :)
They sure do, considering that all of their packages currently in unstable are NMUs (except one, which is still the same version as years ago, untouched). I don't mind helping out, but in this case I guess "joining the team" means "being the team", which would be more effort than I am able to commit to, I'm sorry.
