Dear Maintainer,
We serve proxy information to clients on our network using a wpad.dat
file. No problems through many versions of Firefox. Testing
Iceweasel on Debian, I find that this is not working. Investigation
show that Iceweasel only accepts proxyservers as an IP anddress not a
URL. This is not the case in Firefox.
eg for my wpad.dat to work, the configuration server needs to be
specified as an IP, not a URL and in my wpad.dat, the server also
needs to be specified as a URL.
This wpad.dat snipit works:
if (shExpMatch(url, "http:*")) return "PROXY 192.168.x.xxx:xxx";
This does not:
if (shExpMatch(url, "http:*")) return "PROXY proxy.ourdomain.local:xxx";
DNS is set up and working properly for the client on the local network.
dig proxy.ourdomain.local and dig proxy both return the correct IP on
the client.
