Eli Zaretskii from GNU responded that in CVS they have fixed things the other way around -- @setfilename now uses "eintr". That is, the filenames of the info files are changed to match the dir entry.
He also mentioned that when released, it will be bundled with the Emacs distribution; it will no longer be an independent package. This will mean a different source package, and likely a different maintainer. I do not know how soon the next release is expected.
