Looking at the patch, it seems to just add a check that something
is actually initialised or similar, which seems like something that
should probably just be applied to the pubsub module directly.
Do you know where the patch is from and if it has been submitted
to wxpython/pubsub upstream? Sadly the patch file is lacking such
metadata.
