I tried; 2.6.11-rc3-CITI_NFS4_ALL-1 (how's that for a kernel patch name :-) ) at the server did no change; I still got the problems, and I still got the kernel messages. (I got fewer of them, though.) The same kernel applied to the clients helped nothing either, and made them panic quite easily as well :-) So, I guess I'm still missing something.
