Package: whois Version: 5.2.0 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream Hi.
IANA operates a whois server that gives information about TLDs, IP allocations and AS numbers at https://www.iana.org/whois. The hostname seems to be whois.iana.org which has a CNAME RR to ianawhois.vip.icann.org. I think it makes at least sense to have TLDs automatically search these. Maybe the AS and IPs can also be integrated, but at least for the IPs a syntax would need to be found not to conflict with the (more detailed) results from the RIRs.
