Package: dvbcut Version: 0.5.4+svn178-8 Severity: important Tags: patch Dear Maintainer,
The latest upload of dvbcut fails to build on ppc64el. This is due to the switch from dh_auto_configure to the direct call to the configure script. According to the changelog it has been done to fix the hardening-no-relro issue reported by lintian. The correct solution for that is to bump the debhelper compatibility to 9, so that CFLAGS, CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS are passed to the configure script (see the manpage for more details). With this compatibility level you can also get rid of the manual calls to dpkg-buildflags. You will find attached a patch fixing that. It also gets rid of the now out-of-date copy of debian/config.{guess,sub}, and get it updated through autotools-dev. Finally it's not included in the patch, but note that you can enable parallel building by passing --parallel to dh. You can then set DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS to parallel=X to control the number of CPU to use.
