Package: ext2resize
Version: 1.1.19-3

I just stumbled on this package, and I think it'd benefit the users if the
description of this package would mention its limitations a bit more, and
also note that there is a resize2fs program installed on all Debian
systems (e2fsprogs is required). Otherwise maybe people looking for ext2/3
resizing tools will only find this package and conclude there is no such
possibility in sarge, for example.

For offline resizing, as far as I can read it, it works for little-endian
machines (but resize2fs works for all machines, and is more tested).

For online resizing (the thing resize2fs can *not* do), it only works for
ext2 (not ext3), and requires patches to the kernel (included) and to
e2fsck. The latter is problematic, since on Debian, patches to software are
not really easily applied for a Debian user.

I think honesty benefits all here -- and I do hope that some day online
resize will work reliably on ext3, because it's really damn annoying to
resize 300G filesystems offline :-).

Thanks!
