As already mentioned I can't reproduce your problem and you're not sharing any details about your setup. Please help me help you! As you're leaving me guessing I'll make a random shot in the dark and suggest you try to downgrade all binary packages built from gtk-vnc you have installed on your system to 0.5.3-1 and see if this has any affect. (ie. before switching to libgcrypt20) http://snapshot.debian.org/package/gtk-vnc/0.5.3-1/ Without furter information all I can do is to say I've tested vnc and it works for me (and even if it didn't other connection types are also around), then point at your severity justification claim that vinagre should be unusable and say it's wrong.
