todays upgrade presented me with

  argyll

Need to get 5979 kB of archives.
After this operation, 50.2 MB of additional disk space will be used.

The old (1.5.x) argyll package was already weighing 7M, but this is
almost a tenfold increase in size.

Please investigate what's going wrong there.
