OfflineImap has just started a call to all contributors to add an
OpenSSL exception to its GNU GPL license.

While that plows ahead nicely, some have questioned the need to grant an
ssl exception in a python app that simply makes usage of features
provided by stock python (and thus can be considered a system package).

So this is a problem that all GNU GPL python-based apps have that make
use of OpenSSL? Is there any discussion or links to resources that have
evaluated this?

Thanks,
Sebastian
