It does not seem to be a wireshark-specific problem.
Please attach the output of
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders .
I assume the XPM loader will be missing, but I could not reproduce the
same problem with the same version on my system.
