Trying to run mate-power-manager without the rest of the mate environment, I get:

I have been using mate-power-manager in i3 for a while now (starting with that before it even entered Debian).

I ran wheezy-backports i3 + wheezy-backports mate-power-manager for nearly a year now and could not see any issue like the above.

Since 2 days my notebook is on jessie and systemd, but in i3 I can still launch mate-power-manager and use it for power management.

Can you be more specific on the system setup you are running?

Greets,
Mike
