Hello, I just saw that bug #758480 is not related to udev (or openrc for Linux). (The only issue for Linux would be to allow CTRL-C to be pressed during boot)
Since you have problems also with kFreeBSD, does the system boot properly in read-write mode, except /proc not being mounted? You also reported that openrc hangs during shutdown. I'll try to find out what's going wrong with a test image under kvm. As you know, due to this bug openrc will be removed from debian/testing on the 19th this month. Can you consider changing the bug title and lower the severity to important to avoid this, while we are investigating?
