Dear Maintainer, gbp has a command called `import-dscs` which takes a --debsnap option. This is really wonderful in that it allows you to bootstrap a gbp-style git repository for an existing package from snapshots. I'd like the same thing for git-dpm! :) git-dpm has the import-dsc command, but it's not as convenient, because you first need to get the .dsc file and then loop over this command for every .dsc, in the right order! I've prototyped such a feature in Python 3, and it's available at http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/users/barry/import-dscs.git/ One caveat is that it requires a fix-committed but not yet released bug fix to python3-apt.
