I have the same problem with apt-file v 2.5.2.3. This bug is caused by the inaccessibility of dde.debian.net which is a cname for paganini.debian.org and there is no more any DNS for paganini.debian.org.
The role of Debian Data Export (DDE) is explained in https://wiki.debian.org/DDE, but the alternative dde given in this page http://debtags.debian.net/dde does not exist. debtags.debian.net is actually running on glinka.debian.org, but has no longer the DDE database API. In any case the url of the DDE is hardcoded in rapt-file script, so is not supposed to be changed. It seems that this package is no longer maintained, I don't see any other explanation. If you wanr to look for a file in the debian database without downloading the content file of all packages, the better alternative is to use the search interface from https://www.debian.org/distrib/packages. It should not be very complicated to change rapt-file to use the search form there! Marc -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
