* What led up to the situation? Trying to update the debian kernel, apt-get
and apt-cache cant read file lists
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? Tried using Synaptic Package Manager
* What was the outcome of this action? Same error, can't read package lists
* What outcome did you expect instead? Able to install packages
